Account & Data Deletion
Updated and effective as of 11 August 2026
This page explains how to delete your Gracen account and the data connected to it. It supplements our Privacy Policy. Gracen is operated by S&C Development GmbH.
1. Delete your account in the app
The fastest way is from inside the app:
- Open Gracen and go to Settings;
- tap Profile;
- scroll down and tap Delete Account & Data;
- confirm when asked.
Deletion runs immediately and cannot be undone. Your account and its data are removed from our servers, and the app's local data on your device is cleared at the same time.
2. Request deletion by email
If you can no longer sign in or no longer have the app installed, email support@gracen.app from the email address associated with your account, with the subject "Delete my account".
We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting on it. We confirm completion by email and act within the timeframes required by law (within 30 days, and generally much sooner).
3. What gets deleted
Deleting your account erases the personal data we hold about you:
- your account and profile, including the answers you gave during onboarding;
- everything you recorded or tracked in the app;
- anything you shared with other people through Gracen, including Accountability Partner connections and messages and anything you posted in the community; and
- all data stored locally on your device by the app.
The content filter (iOS Screen Time, the Android on-device filter and the browser extension) works entirely on your device and sends us no browsing data, so there is nothing on our servers to delete for it. Removing the app, or the extension from your browser, removes it completely.
4. What we keep, and for how long
A small amount of data survives account deletion, because we are legally required to keep it or because it is no longer linked to you:
- Invoices, payments and tax records: kept for the statutory retention periods under German commercial and tax law (generally up to 10 years). These are held by us and by our payment providers (Stripe, Apple, Google).
- Aggregated or anonymised analytics: retained in a form that can no longer identify you.
- Support correspondence: kept for a limited period where we need it to handle disputes or meet legal obligations.
- Encrypted backups: deleted data may persist in routine backups for a short period before those backups expire.
We may also retain limited data where necessary to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute or enforce our agreements.
5. Deleting your account is not the same as cancelling
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a paid subscription, because subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are managed by those stores. Cancel your subscription first:
- iPhone / iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Gracen → Cancel Subscription;
- Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Gracen → Cancel;
- Bought on our website: email support@gracen.app.
See our Money-Back Policy for cancellations and refunds.
6. Delete some data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete everything to remove specific data. In the app you can remove an Accountability Partner (which deletes that connection and its messages), delete individual community posts and comments, and edit your profile details. To ask for anything else to be corrected or erased, email support@gracen.app.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data. Sections 10 and 11 of our Privacy Policy set out these rights and how to exercise them. We will never charge you or degrade your service for making a deletion request.
